Because of the satellite interruption at about 10:36 pm during Battle of the Belts, the show had a 3-minute overrun. The network chose to calculate the whole program average for Battle of the Belts by excluding the satellite downtime and including the overrun, resulting in an average of 524,000 viewers, reflected in the numbers we reported earlier.

You’ll notice in our quarter-hour report below for Battle of the Belts, the weighted average for the entire 63-minute duration was 520,000 viewers, slightly lower than the 524,000 reporter earlier. The different calculation results in the same two-digit P18-49 rating, 0.15, as average viewers in the demo would be 194,000 throughout the 63 minutes, as opposed to an average of 196,000 by the method that excludes the downtime and includes the overrun.

If you’re curious, if you only calculate the 60 minutes from 10:00 to 11:00 pm, including the downtime and excluding the overrun, the average viewership was 523,000 and a P18-49 average of 199,000 (also a 0.15 P18-49 rating).
