Similar to the 1970s map from the other day, derived from cagematch.net match results. Location entries were processed through geopy to determine coordinates. Circles are sized by how many events during the year the given promotion held in the given city, according to Cagematch’s extensive but incomplete records.
Only promotions that had 6 events or more so far this year were included, which is intended to make this map representative of what promotions are running regularly.
The promotions ruled out as non-indies are arbitrary and debatable. These promotions were excluded: WWE, AEW, Impact Wrestling, NWA, MLW, ROH, WOW, New Japan, AAA, CMLL, NOAH, All Japan, Dragongate, DDT, Stardom, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. I selected these on a whim, probably because they have either major TV reach or are controlled by a large corporation or I otherwise think of them as not an indie (whatever that means).
Among other things, this map might be useful to independent wrestlers who are interested in traveling and want to figure out what promotions are within driving distance of their location.
