It should be stressed these are announced attendances. Promotions often exaggerate their attendances. New Japan we believe started reporting more honest attendances beginning in mid-2015.
This starts at 1993 because there are missing results from All Japan Women from before that period. Beginning in 1993, results seem to be more complete.
This data represents attendances for events that took place in Japan, only. So for example, this doesn’t include attendances for New Japan in the U.S. or any other country outside of their domestic market.
Of course, not every event has an attendance data point in Cagematch’s database. Major promotions’ records are actually close to complete. But for events with no attendance data, as the charts note, I inserted the lowest available non-zero attendance number with a cap of 1500, to be conservative, and contributed that to the estimated total. Where that method didn’t allow me to come up with a number, I inserted 500 as the attendance for the given event.
