Grant v. WWE, McMahon, Laurinaitis lawsuit put on hold at request of U.S. Attorneys due to investigation

Janel Grant’s lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis is being put on hold at the request of U.S. Attorneys from the Southern District of New York, according to representatives for Grant.

“Ms. Grant has consented to a request by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York to stay her case against Mr. McMahon, WWE and Mr. Laurinaitis, pursuant to a pending non-public investigation,” Ann Callis said in a statement to Wrestlenomics and other outlets. “We will cooperate with all appropriate next steps.”

It’s been previously reported that attorneys from the Southern District of New York are leading an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against McMahon.

The Wall Street Journal reported in February that prosecutors were interviewing women who have accused McMahon of misconduct.

McMahon’s attorney, Jessica Rosenberg, stated to us: “We remain confident the evidence will prove Ms. Grant’s allegations are false and her complaint is nothing more than a fabricated, vindictive narrative from a disgruntled former girlfriend.”

Sarah Mortazavi, an attorney for the Southern District, was added to the civil case today in a new filing.

Along with the notice, two sealed documents were also added to the docket for the lawsuit.

A spokesperson for the Southern District of New York declined to comment on the new filings.

As of Thursday afternoon, a search of the Southern District of New York’s electronic filing system doesn’t show any new cases involving McMahon.
